The BEST

MAYNE ISLAND

Worth knowing: 1) A dedicated pedestrian/bike trail from Village Bay to Miners Bay (Mayne Island Regional Trail) and generally less motor vehicle traffic, make Mayne Island safer and more enjoyable for cyclists than the Pender Islands or Salt Spring Island. 2) The Mayne Island Brewing Company is a Southern Gulf Islands’ special secret. Owners Annette and Michael started the gig in 2016 and now produce more than a dozen ales and lagers in their small-batch brewing on Fernhill Road. I’ve consumed six of the varieties and loved them all. Their unique “tasting room” is outdoors and in typical island style.
